I am interested in volunteering this year, how do I register?

If you are interested in volunteering, you can register through this link.

Is there any training or experience required?

A mandatory orientation will be held (tbd-2021). Many of the event’s needs are basic and function well with a correct process. An updated agenda will be posted. Experience required is dependent on the volunteer assignment selected and your skill sets. Many assignments are set up and require basic manpower. Some are more customer oriented and require good people skills. There are select tasks that will require individuals with specialty skill sets.

What amount of time commitment is required?

A minimum of one day is required (9 hours). You are welcome to sign up for multiple days to support the different venues.

Are there any benefits to being a member volunteer?

Volunteers will have front row exposure to the planned events
Unique event apparel signifying your contribution and support for the event
Lunch will be served
Parking privileges
No membership fee, just a $20 refundable commitment fee (application form is forthcoming)
You will also become a member of an exclusive alumni with invitations to future events
An enjoyable weekend of something unique and not before seen in Detroit
Meet others with a common interest in motorsports
A pre-event launch and appreciation event

What is the age limit?

The minimum age is 18. A minor, 16 and up, accompanied by an adult is welcome to apply. Exceptions will be considered.

I'm interested in more than just one volunteer area - can I work in multiple areas during the event?

Yes, you can and more than one day if you like.

I registered online, when will I be informed which volunteer area I have been assigned to?

As soon as your application is processed by Volunteer Services, you will receive a confirmation email noting that it has been received. Communication updates and confirmation of your actual volunteer assignment will be sent weeks in advance of the American Speed Festival.

Will food, beverage, and shelter be provided for the volunteers?

Yes, there will be a dedicated area for volunteers to take a shift break. Food and beverage will be available to all volunteers.

Will there be an area for volunteers to keep their personal belongings?

Although there will be a dedicated volunteer area, we ask that volunteers do not bring any valuables with them, as we are not held responsible for any loss or damage to personal property.

Will I have to wear a uniform?

You will receive apparel to wear signifying your participation in the American Speed Festival. We will ask you for your size preference in advance.

What is our COVID event policy?

If the event is canceled due to Covid restrictions by the State of Michigan, a refund will be issued. If the event is rescheduled, your festival passes will be valid for the new event date or you can be issued a refund. Due to its high rate of transmission from person to person, special steps need to be taken to mitigate the spread of the virus. If required by the State of Michigan and CDC guidelines, patrons / attendees / volunteers that attend the event, each person must have a mask on upon arrival and maintain social distancing.

What are the general public hours for the American Speed Festival?

Friday - Sunday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Can I purchase tickets at the gate the day of the event?

Yes, if the day’s event is not sold out. We recommend you purchase your tickets online in advance.

Where do I park?

Patron parking is just a few minutes from M1 Concourse. We are in the process of confirming those locations - please refer to the website periodically for updates. The offsite parking locations will have attendants and there will be a plentiful shuttle fleet providing round trip service. The website will have a map of the parking locations you will be directed to when you purchase your parking pass. All handicap access parking is onsite at M1 Concourse. For the race competitors with transporters and trailers, overnight parking will be staged at the secure M1 South Parking Lot across the street just off South Blvd. It will be marked.

Will there be food, beverage, and restrooms onsite?

Your fully paid admission price is all inclusive for quality food and refreshing beverages. Clean and maintained, climate controlled mobile restrooms and ADA compliant modular restrooms with hand wash stations will be conveniently located.

Is alcohol included in the price of the general admission ticket if you are of legal age?

Yes, Id is required.

If I cannot attend will there be a refund?

No, unless the event is cancelled.

Where can I view the racing competition?

General seating will be provided in select locations around the M1 Champion Motor Speedway to optimize viewing. There will be additional areas suitable for standing and viewing behind guardrail barriers. Jumbo vision monitors will also enable race fans to view the event. Either way you will be close to the action.

Will the motorsports events take place in the event of inclement weather?

Yes.

This is being referred to as a festival. What else can I expect?

The innovative Jim Hall will be honored and his iconic Can-Am Chaparrals of the 1960’s will be featured, as well as professional race cars from other motorsports series will provide spectator delight. Complementing the motorsports competition will be lifestyle, food, wine, and spirits symposiums - an opportunity to enjoy quality food and beverage. A walk around sports car and competition car exposition is scheduled on the final day. Visit the brand new 28,000 sq. ft. M1 Concourse Event Center. Select private and public evening events with limited ticket sales are also planned. Please refer to the website for additional information.

Can I buy American Speed Festival Merchandise?

Yes, apparel and souvenir collector merchandise will be offered.

Ticket Terms and Conditions:

The impact of Coronavirus has been unlike anything our live event industry and the global community have ever experienced. Due to these unprecedented circumstances, we have created the following terms, conditions and policy to support our customers, participants, exhibitors and sponsors.
These terms and conditions will apply to all Pontiac Motorsports Exposition events.


Ticketing / Refunds / Access:

  1. This ticket is proof of purchase of the above event and must be presented at the time of admission.
  2. This ticket is non-transferable and only one ticket is valid per ticket purchased.
  3. Tickets are not to be duplicated for the purpose of falsifying entry.
  4. Refunds are available at the discretion of the Event Organizer (PME). Please choose carefully as there are no refunds.
  5. The Event Organizer reserves the right to refuse entry.
  6. This ticket has been created and managed using the American Speed Festival website and is also subject to the Terms and Conditions of American Speed Festival and Pontiac Motorsports Exposition.
  7. As the Event Organizer hosting this event, (Pontiac Motorsports Exposition) is solely responsible for all issues relating to the sale of tickets. If you have any questions regarding this event, please contact PME on the American Speed Festival Website.
  8. Proof of age or a vaild ID may be requested at any time while on-site at the event.
  9. Latecomers will have access to the event site during posted event hours. There will be no refunds.
  10. Tickets cannot be sold by any means at a price greater than the purchase price of the ticket. Scalped tickets may be cancelled, and the ticket holder denied entry.
  11. If the event is cancelled due to unforeseen COVID circumstances, a refund will be issued.

Conduct

  1. Any persons who are noisy, drunk, threatening or unruly will be asked to leave the premises.
  2. Proof of age or a vaild ID may be requested at any time while on-site at the event.
  3. Latecomers will have access to the event site during posted event hours. There will be no refunds.

Photo / Interviews / Film / Video

  1. The event organizer has all rights to film, photo and video production of this event.
  2. By purchasing the event ticket all guests understand that they have released their rights for Pontiac Motorsport Exposition to used their images, names and likeness for all uses in film, photo and video production.
  3. We do encourage social media posting and social sharing of the events.

Personal Data and Privacy:

  1. Any data collected for marketing purposes from this event will be strictly in accordance with the Privacy of Information Act.

Liability:

  1. The risk of injury to me and my child from the activities involved in these programs is significant, including the potential for permanent disability and death, and while particular rules, equipment, and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist.
  2. By purchasing the event ticket, all guests understand and knowingly and freely assume all such risks, even if arising from the negligence of the releases or others and assume full responsibility for me and my child’s participation.
  3. I willingly agree to comply with the program’s stated and customary terms and conditions for participation. If I observe any unusual significant concern in my child’s readiness for participation and/or in the program itself, I will remove my child/ward from the participation and bring such attention of the nearest official immediately.
