Johnny O’Connell

M1 Concours’ resident driving professor, Johnny O’Connell, will be front and center throughout the ASF weekend. Driving for Corvette Racing, O’Connell racked up four class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and an overall win at the Daytona Rolex 24 in 2001 with co-drivers Ron Fellows, Chris Kneifel and Frank Freon. He is Sebring’s all-time winner with one overall victory and eight class titles along with being a three time American Le Mans Series Champion with 38 ALMS wins. His racing success continued with Cadillac Racing in the World Challenge Championship and he’s also raced Indy cars in the IRL. He’s also been a popular commentator for ESPN. O’Connell embodies what successful racing is all about. “Behind the wheel he is determined, focused, fiercely competitive, relentless and obsessed with victory,” according to his Hall of Fame on the National Corvette Museum web site. “Outside of the car though, he is approachable, fun, engaging, and always ready to talk with fans.” O’Connell now conducts special driving seminars for the M1 Motorsports Instructional Modules on a variety of driving topics. Look to see a lot of him on track during the ASF event this October.
